Year End Roundup: December 2022

December has been filled with meetings with every State Agency to understand their functionality and department budgets.  There will be some exciting movement this upcoming session with creating and funding a sustainable model for childcare, the potential for sports betting, paid family and medical leave beyond the Governor’s voluntary program and continued investment in housing.  The Legislature received a briefing from Joint Fiscal, the state of housing and the issue of PCB’s in our school system.

Outside of meeting every State Agency, I met with the leaders of our Regions Supervisory Unions, Let’s Grow Kids, The Vermont Chamber of Commerce, The Small Business Development Center, The Vermont Law School, The Cicero Institute, The Woodstock Inn, The VCDA Conference, The Women’s Caucus, The HUB, Woodstock’s EDC meeting to fund local childcare centers, a meeting with our Region’s Energy Representative’s regarding our Energy Coordinator and the Selectboard meeting in Woodstock to discuss the continuation of funding the Regional Coordinator.

I also hosted a housing round table in Plymouth.  You can view it on Okemo Valley TV here.
